Philly-founded and family-owned local favorite opens sixth location

PHILADELPHIA — Oct. 5, 2023 — One of Philly’s most posted and picturesque local menus will soon be getting 25 million more views annually – with the spring 2024 opening of Sabrina’s Cafe at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) in Terminal C.

The endearing and enduring concept of elevated comfort food served in a cozy, eclectic dinette made its debut in 2001 near Philly’s famed Italian Market. Founders Raquel and Robert DeAbreu further personalized the idea by naming the restaurant after their daughter, and Sabrina’s Cafe was born.

Just over two decades later, Sabrina’s Cafe operates five successful locations – each a neighborhood favorite – including Fairmount/Art Museum, University City, South Street, Wynnewood and Collingswood. The new PHL Food & Shops location will be the sixth Sabrina’s Cafe.

“Sabrina’s Cafe is thrilled to bring our signature brunch experience to the airport, offering travelers a taste of home even when they’re on the go,” said Robert DeAbreu, co-founder. “Our airport location is excited to serve up the same delicious brunch menu that has made us a beloved destination in the city for years.”

The DeAbreus have partnered with esteemed and experienced restaurant operator, Hakan Ilhan, who also launched Bud & Marilyn’s and Good Luck Pizza Co. at PHL. Ilhan has extensive airport concessions experience in Philly and in Washington, D.C.

“We are very proud of opening Sabrina’s Cafe at Philadelphia International Airport,” said Hakan Ilhan, president of Hakan Ilhan Restaurants. “Sabrina’s Cafe has been an iconic Philadelphia establishment for many years. Besides serving delicious food, it has been a gathering place for many communities in Philadelphia.”

Sabrina’s Cafe built its brand on brunch with a twist, with offerings like Stuffed Challah French Toast, Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, Vegetarian Huevos Rancheros, Shrimp and Grits, Tofu Scramble and more. The list of super fluffy omelets is irresistible for locals–especially the Philly Hometown Omelette with ground hot sausage, button mushrooms, roasted peppers, marinated long hots, and provolone and parmesan cheeses.

Whether it’s the artful sprinkle of confectioners’ sugar or banana slices sliding down a vanilla bean syrup slope – all entrees are served ready for their close-ups.

The bounty of culinary beauty continues with Sabrina’s Cafe’s turkey and beef burger menu. Diners can “build their own” or opt for fan favorites such as the House Angus Burger on a brioche roll featuring buttermilk fried onions, American cheese, leaf lettuce, sliced tomatoes and over-easy egg. It’s topped with “Big Spence” sauce, a nod to Sabrina’s younger brother, Spencer.

There are also sandwiches, tacos, soups and made-to-order salads too numerous to mention. All are prepared in an authentic neighborhood-kitchen style with only fresh, high-quality ingredients. The colorful ingredients nearly jump off the plate.

“Everything about Sabrina’s Cafe says, ‘Come in, get comfortable; you’re going to love eating here and being here,’” said Mel Hannah, Vice President and General Manager of MarketPlace PHL. “Everybody leaves Sabrina’s Cafe smiling and satisfied, and that’s a great way to start any trip.”
