PHILADELPHIA — April 25, 2022 — In conjunction with the City of Philadelphia’s Division of Aviation, MarketPlace PHL, LLC, will host its 2022 Virtual Leasing Outreach on Thursday, May 5, starting at 11 a.m. In 2019, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) welcomed more than 33 million passengers and currently serves more than 23 airlines and more than 350 daily departures to over 120 nonstop destinations.

The PHL Food & Shops Program is home to a robust roster of high-quality retailers including luxury name brands and high-end dining, with over 170 restaurant, food and retail locations throughout the airport. The leasing forum provides local businesses, national and international restauranteurs, and retailers, including automated (vending) retailers, and quick service food operators, the opportunity to learn about the advantages of expanding their brands within the airport and the benefits of joining the PHL Food & Shops Program’s award-winning concessions program. The leasing forum also serves as a networking event to foster professional relationships with neighboring enterprises.

Philadelphia International Airport and PHL Food & Shops Celebrate National Cheesesteak Week

Private panel with Philadelphia Eagle Brian Dawkins, special menu items and more during weeklong event

PHILADELPHIA — March 21, 2022 — Every day is Cheesesteak Day in Philadelphia, but March 24 is National Cheesesteak Day, and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) is celebrating all week long, from March 21 to March 25, with special events and freebies. Travelers can enjoy cheesesteaks and cheesesteak-inspired items from 13 renowned local eateries throughout the airport.

The spotlight event of Cheesesteak Week will be a private tasting with former Philadelphia Eagle and Pro Football Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins on Tuesday, March 22, at Chickie’s & Pete’s, located in the D/E Connector. This private panel event will be recorded and available for travelers to watch on PHL Food & Shops’ social media and website at PHLfoodandshops.com. Travelers can still experience all this celebration has to offer in other activities taking place all week long.

Four panelists, including Philadelphia Eagles’ fan favorite and Pro Football Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins, will sample items from Chickie’s & Pete’s robust cheesesteak menu and their perfect Pepsi pairings while discussing all things Philly: cheesesteaks, football and more. Cheesesteak Tour
March 21-25

Interactive tour maps displayed throughout the airport will feature all 13 PHL Food & Shops restaurants that offer cheesesteaks or cheesesteak-related items. Guests can scan the QR code, displayed on various Cheesesteak Week promo items, at any of the participating locations to access the map that highlights each location, the cheesesteak menu items and their perfect Pepsi pairings.

Delivery of Free Pretzel Factory Mini Cheesesteaks
March 21-25

Any time a guest places a delivery order with the Grab app or via orderatphl.com during delivery hours, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and uses the keyword “Cheesesteak” in the order notes, they’ll receive a free order of cheesesteak pretzel rivets from Philly Pretzel Factory. Travelers can also look out for PHL Food & Shops’ delivery robot, Jawnbot, which may deliver some of these orders.

March 21-25

During Cheesesteak Week, anyone in the airport or within its proximity can use the Cheesesteak Day/Week Snapchat filter. Guests are encouraged to tag PHL Food & Shops and PHL Airport in their posts and use #SayCheesesteak for a chance to be featured on social media.

Dicosola Named President of MarketPlace Development; McGinn To Retire

Boston-based MarketPlace Development has appointed Michael DiCosola to be the company’s new president when the company’s current leader and co-founder Paul McGinn retires on March 31.

DiCosola has more than 30 years of experience in retail real estate and has been with MarketPlace Development since 2001. As president, DiCosola will direct the development, management and leasing for all MarketPlace Development projects, including Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)Philadelphia International Airport (PHL)Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

“There is no one who knows the MarketPlace Development company and this industry better than Michael,” said McGinn. “His knowledge, experience and reputation in our industry is unparalleled.”

Having served as the company’s president since 2003, McGinn will continue to support MarketPlace Development in an advisory capacity.

USA. L’Oréal-owned skincare brand Kiehl’s has opened its second store at Philadelphia International Airport, in partnership with 3Sixty Duty Free. The latest outlet is located in the D/E connector; the original shop is in Terminal F. Kiehl’s joins the 120-plus retail and dining units that are currently trading as part of the PHL Food & Shops programme.

Among the store features are wall designs dedicated to Philadelphia’s heritage and a consultation table with popular Kiehl’s formulas

MarketPlace PHL Hires Emily Nichols As New Assistant General Manager

PHILADELPHIA — Feb. 16, 2022 —MarketPlace PHL, the management company for PHL Food & Shops, the award-winning concessions program at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), is pleased to announce the hiring of Emily Nichols as the Assistant General Manager for MarketPlace PHL.

Nichols will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of more than 170 stores, restaurants and services at the Philadelphia International Airport while working alongside the Vice President and General Manager of MarketPlace PHL.

Nichols brings two decades of event operations and facility management expertise to the role of Assistant General Manager of MarketPlace PHL. Nichols holds a B.S. from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. in English literature from Northern Arizona University.
